This has been one of the best seasons of Dancing With the Stars yet and it was somewhat disappointing to see it all come to a close tonight on the finale. The dancing on this season was amazing, as one would have hoped from a DWTS All Stars season. Normally I rather hate ‘all stars’ seasons on reality TV shows because I feel the contestants already had their chance to win and I’d rather watch new people than repeats. In the case of Dancing With the Stars All Stars 2012, however, I was hooked all season watching the veterans try to top each other every week with new and inventive routines.
The top 3 contestants–Kelly Monaco, Shawn Johnson and Melissa Rycroft–all deserved their place in the finals for various reasons. No matter who won Dancing With the Stars All Stars tonight, they each brought their own special gift to the show and deserved the reward they received. Shawn Johnson was incredibly innovative and brought a new level of excitement and surprise to DWTS All Stars this season. Kelly Monaco brought sexy to the dance floor in spades and gave some of the most delicious to watch routines of the season. Melissa Rycroft charmed the audience, the voters and the judges with her bright smile and sparkling personality–as well as some quite stellar dance moves.
In the end, however, there can be only one Dancing With the Stars All Stars winner who took home the mirror ball trophy.
